Finding Chicago's Red Xs
Select vacant buildings throughout Chicago have signs affixed to them that prominently display a red ‘X.’ The signs warn first responders that buildings are structurally unsound. This map depicts where and when such signs were placed by Chicago Fire Department contractors between July 2012 and July 2013.
